Volta could be an impressive technology, but I don't use the internet space thatmuch so it is unlikely toplay a large part in my current work...that said it's cool that IL can be coverted to JS.
James Coulter
An interesting technology conceptually, which Robert did well to explain. I wasn't sure I got a complete picture of how Volta solves the architectural problems Robert referred to in his slides, perhaps a different example would have illustrated it better.

Another fine demo of the power of Silverlight and Expression Blend. If Rich carries on at this rate, he'll be giving Josh Twist a run for his money.
Ami Bening
Excellent insight into something that has only recenty been released.
David Tims
Presentations this week on three truly "Next Generation" topics, another excellent event.
David Matthews-Gore
Good event as always, and a pleasure to have a little extra time to network and to finish a few minutes early!

Robert Hogg Microsoft Volta: Next Gen .NET Client-Server Apps
Microsoft Live Labs "Volta" is an early access toolset that presents a new way of developing client and server side applications by allowing multi-tier web application to be rapidly developed using familiar .NET skills and techniques.

Decisions in application architecture are currently made well in advance of implementation. We discuss how future changes in development tooling will change the way that multi-tier web application architecture is implemented.

"Volta" allows developers and architects to postpone previously irreversible or costly design decisions until the last possible moment by making architecture a solid part of agile development. It does this by automating the plumbing of distributed applications across multiple tiers, tooling for debugging and profiling, and allowing developers to concentrate on application development.

We will show how to produce a web based "Volta" application, separate the application tiers and demonstrate how Volta works under the hood.
Richard Costall The Silverlight Template Nugget
The World is your oyster with Silverlight, or the button can be an oyster, or a chicken, or a banana or something not so extravagant that a developer could create. In this nugget Rich shows us how you can customise the look of a button in Silverlight and he wont be writing any code just using Expression Blend. Designers look away now!
Robert Hogg the Oslo nugget...
Shhh... don't tell anyone. Actually Robert knows exactly what he can and can't say about Oslo - An exciting wave of SOA and Business Process technologies to be detailed at the PDC in October 2008. Robert will give us a high level overview of Oslo.
