Although it didn't go without its hiccups I think this is the first one I have seen actually work - I bet Jon was relieved - I am not sure how upgrades to clients and server will work (as this would involved changes to tables and SPs etc) but this is exactly the sort of mechanism that is needed for mobile devices...I just wish I had a reason to use it.

Great new venue, excellent speakers and tasty pizzas (more chilli ones next time though).

The best talk I've seen this year!! Very interesting and useful subject. In fact, just this morning I have a project that can use this. Excellent presentation and demos!!

Neato! This was very useful for me because it's directly related to a project that I've got coming up.

Event: The Kitchen Synch

*** NOTE : VENUE CHANGE ***

With various issues being raised over changes at Coventry Airport we have had to re-assess our meeting location and as a result we've decided to try somewhere new - The Royal British Legion is off the end of Rowley Road where we normally meet. It's at the end of Kimberley Road See here for the location.

If you are not a member of NxtGenUG, you are more than welcome to attend. We just ask you register on the site, to help us to plan numbers and refreshments. Once registered on the site, you can then register for this event from this page.

John Price Everything in the kitchen Syncd
With more and more PC devices appearing in the marketplace, we have more and more data that needs to be kept up to date, Calendars and contact lists come to mind and is readily dealt with by applications such as Outlook and Exchange, but what about data in your own applications? Does your application really need a constant connection to its data? How can you provide this level of disconnectability (if thats a real word) in your own software? ADO.NET Sync Services, thats how!

This session will look at the ADO.NET Sync Service framework and, demo gods permitting, we'll have a go at building an app that can work just as well with or without its database server..
Stuart Wells Why would I want to use Xml datatype in SQL Server anyway?
In this nugget Stuart will aim to demonstrate a scenario with a traditional relational DB for something trivial (like an Customer table) and how XML could be used to store the Customer details instead of many 'normal' columns with scope for greater extensibility. Particulary useful if using XML services as it avoids excessive to and from DB<->XML conversions.
