Personally, I thought this was one of our smoothest run events, it all seemed to go really well, thanks largely to Geff and his smooth admin skills!

An excellent talk about LINQ. Very refreshing having a developers point of view rather than an evangelists. Excellent knowledge about the subject, clearly shown by ability to answer some tough questions.

My first event and well worth the trip. I will be back for more.

Event: LINQ to SQL, LINQ to XML
.NET 3.0 might be out, but .NET 3.5 which includes some serious langauge enhancements is just around the corner. As a preview of what is to come, Oliver Sturm a well respected speaker from the UK community visits Birmingham to talk about LINQ, one of the key language enhancements and how to create customs extensions to LINQ to simplify your coding experience. As ever, we have a Nugget this time provided by our very own Geff 'Bacardi' Lombardi on his favourite .NET 2.0 feature, the Background Worker Thread. Also : Chat, Tea and Coffee, Pizza and Prizes!!

If you are not a member of NxtGenUG, you are more than welcome to attend. We just ask you register on the site, to help us to plan numbers and refreshments. Once registered on the site, you can then register for this event from this page.

Oliver Sturm Extensible LINQing
LINQ to SQL, LINQ to XML, ... we've all heard these, but what about LINQ to <my own source of data>? LINQ is, above all, an extensible technology, and so it is possible to use the same convenient language extensions known from the main LINQ projects to query information from any arbitrary data source. This presentation explains the theory behind it all and includes a live code demonstration of using LINQ to query information from a web service. LINQ to web service?
