Excellent meeting to end the year - huge turnout for December - See you all in 2008!
Conan Ablewhite
[UIPOLICE] "Mr Entertainment" himself is docked one point for gratuitous use of green on red in a demo ;) [/UIPOLICE]

Plenty of interesting examples; having concentrated more on the Expression Design side in my work, it was helpful to see code-based demos running in VS2008. One day I'll get myself a laptop and really get my hands dirty with this stuff. * docked one point for the Hawaiian t-shirt ;) *

An added bonus, this one - hadn't had any exposure to XSLT before tonight, but came away feeling as though I had a reasonably good handle on what it entailed. Nice presentation Chris.
Raymond Starkey
Such a pleasure to see a real expert in operation
Richard Brown
Great idea to incorporate the calendar into lots of small demo's. As a result we covered a lot of topics albeit at a fairly high level.
Chris Sexton
I thought the overall format was great - I think this format would really work as a quick low-down on lots of technologies. More like a cookbook - nothing like seeing the stuff in action. Really good balance between Rich and Chris's stuff.
Chris Sexton
Great demos here, good coverage of what the development experience is like, and the real stuff like timelines, input, animations. All served up in inimitable style - nice one Santa Costall!
Dave Evans
Liked the food... A change from pizza.
Ian Russell
Really enjoyed the evening. The atmosphere was excellent and I bagged 2 items of swag! The guys in the office are very jealous of my Silverlight mug. I prefer pizza over pie and chips.
Ian Russell
Excellent introduction to the topic. Poor taste in music and colour schemes! The format suited the evening perfectly.
James Coulter
Rich got the short straw and did most of the mini-presentations. Richard gave an overview of several different aspects of Silverlight and illustrated some of its more useful capabilities.
John Price
An excellent session Chris, even having to put up with Rich stealing most of the presentation. Now that would sound like a setup if Rich had written the calendar app.... now that I think of it...hmmm
Stuart Wells
Not especially familliar with XSLT, although have used it before and am very familliar wil XML. I didn't realise XSLT was as supported in VS as it is (debugging etc) - was well presented and opened my eyes somewhat to how it all works.

I'm dreaming of a Silverlight Christmas. Just like the ones I used to know. Where the buttons glisten and attendees listen to hear, great demos in the show.I'm dreaming of a Silveright Christmas With every web Page I write. May your devs be merry and bright And may all your pages not be white. I'm dreaming of a Silverlight Demo With Chris and Rich on Stage. May your SWAG be expensive and bright And may all your Pizza be large.

Chris Hay and Richard Costall will present a variety of Silverlight nuggets, aimed at highlighting the featrues and pitfalls with Silverlight 1.1. This will be a demo heavy session, so fasten your seatbelts.

Event Breakdown
Richard Costall Richy the Silverlight Developer
Rich the Web Developer had some very HTML code. And if you ever saw him, you would even say it runs. All of the other developers used to laugh and call him names. They never let poor Rich join in developing games. Then one foggy Mix Eve Scott Guthrie came to say: "Rich with your code so bright, won't you install Silverlight tonight?" Then all the developers loved him as they shouted out with glee, Rich the Silverlight developer, you'll go down in history!
Chris Hay RIA Apps, RIA Apps, Silverlight all the way!
Dashing through the code In a developer focused way, Over the fields and properties we go, compiling all the way; Buttons on Silverlight shine, Making UI bright, What fun it is to code and run A Silverlight app tonight. RIA apps, RIA apps, Silverlight all the way! O what fun it is to code A Silverlight app tonight.
Chris Sexton The XSLT nugget
Dave says the world is full of two types of people – those who love XSLT and those who haven’t used it yet. In this session Chris Sexton takes you through the first steps of understanding XSLT and how Visual Studio supports it so you can see what all the fuss is about.
